Introducing Our Family Box!
There are multiple themes in this short but powerful story. The main theme is family and how families love and support one another, even through coping with economic hardship. In the book, the family works toward a common goal, and it brings them closer together. An additional theme of community – people coming together and helping each other – is simply but beautifully illustrated. All of the activities you’ll find in the box are designed to be interactive between you and your children and will give you many opportunities to delve more into all of these themes.
Research shows that social and emotional skills are important predictors of success not only in school, but in all areas of life. Each Curly Clues Club box is specially curated and designed to teach social interaction, emotional awareness and self-regulation.
In this month’s box you will find two activities related to kindness - one in your own family and one in the community. It is important for children to practice acts of kindness and feel the reactions of other people. This emotional connection is what establishes these behaviors, and we must all practice acts of kindness for it to become an automatic response.
You will also find a fun sculptural and painting art activity that you can do together with one child or more. Art as a process is an important learning tool as it is open ended and explorative and stimulates the imagination. Doing it as a cooperative group builds social interaction and self-regulation.
The final activity included this month is a simple science experiment, which is also designed to do as a group and to stimulate creativity, exploration and joy in watching something grow!
We know you’ll love this month’s box focused on family. Don’t forget to tag us on social media @curlycluesclub to share how you are interpreting all of the activities we’ve designed for you and your family. Enjoy!
